Claude Motion turns a report into an animated explainer
Anthropic's Claude Motion writes code that animates your own text, charts and images rather than generating footage, and it is in beta for Team and Enterprise plans.

Key takeaways
- Anthropic launched Claude Motion in beta on 8 October 2026 alongside Claude Dashboards, and took the beta label off Claude Docs, Slides and Design on every plan, including Free.
- Claude Motion builds an animation from code, not a video generation model, so a creator can change one word, number or timing without regenerating the clip.
- Motion exports as MP4 and hands off to Runway, Luma AI, Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield and invideo, with Canva and Captions coming soon.
- Motion is limited to Claude Team and Enterprise plans and counts toward each plan's usage limits, with longer or more complex animations using more.
Anthropic launched Claude Motion in beta on 8 October, a Claude feature that turns a report into a short animated explainer.
It is limited to Team and Enterprise plans. The launch came in a blog post that also introduced Claude Dashboards, which builds live dashboards from plain-language questions, and took the beta label off Claude Docs, Slides and Design, out on every plan including Free.
The distinction Anthropic draws is that Claude Motion does not use a video generation model. Its help centre says Claude writes code that animates the text, charts, shapes and images a user supplies, so there is no generated footage and no AI-generated people. Because every animation is code, a creator can change one word, a number or a piece of timing and leave the rest as it was.
An animation is an artifact built from a Motion template and saved in the Artifacts tab. Users ask for one in any chat, or type /motion, then edit it by prompt ("Change the Q3 number to 18%") or by hand in the editor.
Anthropic says Claude Motion counts toward a plan's usage limits, like the rest of a user's work in Claude, and that longer or more complex animations use more of that limit than a typical message. The help page lists no resolution, frame rate or maximum length for an animation.
When it is done, a user exports an MP4 or opens the animation in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions listed as coming soon. Runway and Luma AI confirmed launch-partner roles on their own news pages. Runway said an exported animation can be finished with generated footage alongside a team's other video work.
The Reuters report of the launch carried the same detail, that Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers and lets users create editable animations and export them as video files.
Anthropic says people have created more than 45 million docs, decks and designs in Claude since those tools arrived, and Motion is the newest member of that family. The code-based approach echoes a do-it-yourself route creators documented through 2026, driving Remotion, a React framework that renders code to video frames, and HeyGen's HyperFrames skills from Claude Code. Motion pulls the first draft of that workflow into the chat window, though the output stays graphics and type rather than footage.
Early reactions, collected by eesel, turned on the plan restriction: a Max subscriber cannot use Motion while a Team seat can, and on Enterprise the feature stays off until an owner switches it on.
Claude Motion is in beta on Claude Team and Enterprise plans; it is on by default on Team, and Enterprise owners turn it on in Organization settings > Artifacts.
