Key takeaways

  • Higgsfield opened Audience Choice voting for its Global Film Festival on October 8; it closes October 15 at 11:59 p.m. UTC.
  • The festival pays out a $1,000,000 pool, including $100,000 for the Audience Choice winner and $500,000 for first place.
  • Voting is limited to Higgsfield users with an active paid subscription, who must watch a film before voting and can cast at most five votes, one per film.

Higgsfield opened public voting for the Audience Choice Award at its Global Film Festival on October 8, putting a $100,000 prize in front of the community for a single week.

The festival page now carries the shortlist and a Vote button on each film. Voting closes October 15 at 11:59 p.m. UTC, and Higgsfield's independent jury reviews the same shortlist from October 9 to 14, with winners due in the last week of October.

What is the Higgsfield Global Film Festival?

It is a $1,000,000 cash competition for short films made on Higgsfield's platform, with the company requiring every shot to be generated inside Higgsfield rather than imported from another tool. Fourteen filmmakers win in total: $500,000 for first place, $200,000 for second, $100,000 for third, $100,000 for the Audience Choice Award, and ten honorable mentions of $10,000 each. One film can take only one prize.

Submissions closed on September 16, and Higgsfield's creative team compiled the shortlist from two sources: a "Create in Public" track that ranked projects by community reaction, and direct picks by the Higgsfield team. The jury named by the organiser is Edwin Catmull, the former president of Walt Disney Animation Studios, cinematographer Phedon Papamichael and director Paul W.S. Anderson.

The voting rules are stricter than a like button. Only Higgsfield users with an active paid subscription can vote; a voter has to watch a shortlisted film before casting a vote for it; each film takes one vote and each voter gets at most five. A voter cannot vote for their own film, and votes can be moved to another film until the window closes. Likes gathered during the earlier Create in Public race do not carry over, so the Audience Choice count starts from zero.

For a creator, the festival is the clearest current measure of what a fully AI-generated short can be, and the shortlist is a free sample of the state of the craft. For Higgsfield, it is a recruiting and marketing exercise: the entry rule keeps the films inside its own platform, and the public shortlist doubles as a showcase for its models.

The Audience Choice winner is decided by vote count alone among films that pass a compliance review; if the top-voted film is disqualified, the award moves to the next film by valid votes.

The shortlist and voting are live at higgsfield.ai; voting closes October 15 at 11:59 p.m. UTC, and the full slate of winners is due in the last week of October.
