Key takeaways

  • Higgsfield Katana generates editable motion graphics and product launch videos from a reference clip, inside Claude.
  • Katana is powered by Anthropic's Claude Motion and reaches Claude through Higgsfield's Model Context Protocol connector.
  • Higgsfield says Katana is available now in Claude for Higgsfield accounts with Claude Motion access.

Higgsfield Katana, a video editing tool that builds motion graphics from a reference clip, now runs inside Anthropic's Claude through Higgsfield's Model Context Protocol connector.

Higgsfield announced Katana on October 8 in posts on Instagram and X, describing it as "our most powerful AI video editing tool, inside Claude." The tool is powered by Claude Motion, the animated-explainer feature Anthropic put into beta on October 8, and it reaches Claude through the Higgsfield MCP connector rather than as a separate app.

The workflow is reference-first. A creator uploads a video they want to match, tells Claude to use the Katana feature on it, and Katana rebuilds the reference's shot structure, motion timing and pacing as editable motion graphics. Higgsfield's launch examples are product launch videos, motion graphics and "aura-farming" edits, its term for the stylized, high-contrast clips that circulate on short-form feeds.

Setup runs through Claude's connector menu: add Higgsfield as a custom connector, sign in with a Higgsfield account, then invoke Katana in chat. Higgsfield's Katana page also lists presets in three categories, Personalized edits, Style transfer and Motion transfer, usable on the site and in Claude.

For newcomers, Higgsfield is a multi-model video platform that hosts Kling, Veo, Seedance and its own Soul identity model behind one subscription. Its MCP connector already exposed five tools to Claude in June, including motion control and background removal; Katana adds reference-driven motion graphics to that list.

Claude Motion, the feature underneath, takes a different route from most AI video tools. Instead of generating footage, it writes editable code that animates text, shapes, charts and images, then exports an MP4 or opens the result in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Luma or Runway. It is in beta for Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, and on enterprise accounts an administrator has to switch it on.

For creators who already work inside Claude, Katana removes a tab and a render queue from the motion-graphics job. The catch is that it needs both a Higgsfield account and Claude Motion access, so the audience is narrower than a standalone editor's.

Katana is available now in Claude through the Higgsfield MCP connector; Higgsfield's own demo clips are on its Instagram page.
