Kling 4.0's 30-second clips are not on the API yet

The API pricing page still says its plans don't support Kling 4.0, leaving Runway and Runware to carry Kling 3.0 instead.

Key takeaways

  • Kling's API pricing page says "These plans currently don't support Kling 4.0" and lists no 4.0 row, read October 20, 2026.
  • Kling AI's October 16, 2026 release says Kling 4.0 is "fully available now on the Kling AI website" and "will also be made available soon to enterprise customers and developers through API access."
  • Runway's API added Kling models on October 13, 2026, topping out at Kling 3.0 4K for 43 credits a second, about $0.43 at Runway's $0.01 credit, with no Kling 4.0 row.
  • Runware's Kling 4.0 page is a coming-soon page that promises Kling 4.0 and Kling 4.0 Flash "the moment they're available."

Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds of video in a single pass, and none of those seconds is reachable through Kuaishou's own Kling API.

The model went live for creators on October 15, 2026. A release distributed by GlobeNewswire and dated October 16 in Beijing says Kling 4.0 is "fully available now on the Kling AI website," and that it "will also be made available soon to enterprise customers and developers through API access." That one sentence is the entire developer timetable Kuaishou has published.

The developer side has not moved since. Kling's X account said on October 15 that Kling 4.0 is "now fully available" through a refreshed kling.ai interface, MCP and CLI, according to RCTV's October 19 roundup. The same post puts two items on its coming-soon list: 10-bit HDR output at 4K and 1080p, and API access for enterprise customers and developers.

Kling's own API pricing page, read on October 20, 2026, agrees. It says "These plans currently don't support Kling 4.0," and its video table runs from Kling 2.5 Turbo through Kling 3.0 Turbo, 3.0, 3.0 Omni and O1 with no Kling 4.0 row. No API price, no model ID and no date for Kling 4.0 has been published. APIMaster, checking on October 9, did not verify a public full-model or Flash identifier or price list, and warns against deriving an ID such as kling-v4 from a display name. Quantslant, which checked OpenRouter and fal.ai on October 15, found Kling 4.0 in neither.

The third-party routes are selling the generation before it. Runway's API changelog added Kling models on October 13, 2026. Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro bills at 12 credits a second; Kling 3.0 Standard at 9 credits without audio and 13 with, Pro at 12 and 17, and 4K at 43 either way. Runway sells developer credits at $0.01 each, which prices Kling 3.0 4K at about $0.43 a second against the $0.42 Kling's own API lists for 3.0 and 3.0 Omni at 4K. Runway's list carries no Kling 4.0 row.

How Kling's API routes compare

Route Kling model Price per second
Kling's own API Kling 3.0 4K, with native audio $0.42
Kling's own API Kling 3.0 Omni 4K $0.42
Runway API Kling 3.0 4K 43 credits, about $0.43
Runway API Kling 3.0 Standard 9 or 13 credits, $0.09 to $0.13
Runway API Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro 12 credits, $0.12
Runway API Kling 4.0 n/a, no row
Kling's own API Kling 4.0 n/a, plans do not support it

Runware's Kling 4.0 page is a coming-soon page. It says Kling AI "announced Kling 4.0 and Kling 4.0 Flash for an October 2026 launch," and that Runware will "support both through the Runware API the moment they're available." That page also carries a spec table Kling's own API pages do not: 3 to 30 seconds in one-second steps, up to 10 keyframe images, Omni Reference with up to 15 assets including 10 images, 5 videos, 7 subjects and 3 voices, two-channel stereo audio, and prompts up to 8,000 tokens.

Kuaishou's release describes the same model and marks part of it as future. It says Kling 4.0 adds native 30-second generation plus "support for up to 15 reference assets and 10 keyframe inputs," and that it "will soon support 10-bit HDR output at both 4K and 1080p, as well as a 21:9 ultrawide format." RCTV's October 19 roundup reports that Artificial Analysis has no Kling 4.0 entry on any board.

For a creator paying for API seconds this week, the option that matches the launch copy does not exist. Kling 3.0 is on both routes at roughly the same 4K price, and Runway's markup runs to about a cent a second. If a client needs one continuous 30-second take today, it has to be generated on the Kling website and exported by hand rather than called from a script. The gap closes when a 4.0 row and a per-second price appear on Kling's API pricing page, which is also the only place a model ID would show up.

To use Kling 4.0 today, generate on kling.ai; developers waiting on API access can watch Kling's API pricing page, where a Kling 4.0 row and price have not yet appeared.
