Pika Relaunches as a Multi-App Studio With 3-Minute Videos & Automatic Model Routing
Semafor reports the rebuilt Pika turns basic details into an editable shot-by-shot list, while Pika's site now lists Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3 and its own Pika 2.5 side by side.

Pika has rebuilt its AI video generator into a set of task-specific apps that choose the AI model for each job.
Semafor reported the launch on September 17, 2026. Pika itself has not published a dated announcement: the newest posts on Pika's blog are from August 18, 2026, as of September 19. The apps are already visible on Pika's homepage.
The biggest change is how a video starts. According to Semafor, users enter basic details of what they want and get an editable, shot-by-shot list instead of writing paragraph-long prompts. Pika then automates which model generates each element. Semafor also mentions a relighting tool and one that swaps characters or outfits.
Pika's homepage shows eight apps. Video Studio generates anything from a short clip to a 3-minute multi-shot video, per Pika. The others are Extend Video, Color Grade, Edit Image, Character Studio, Image Studio, Product Shot and Pika Soundtrack, which scores a clip with music, ambience and foley.
The model shelf is the other half of the story. Pika's homepage lists Seedance 2.5, Pika 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5, Gemini 1.1 Omni Flash, Nano Banana 2, MiniMax H3 and Pika Audio. Manual model choice remains available, and existing accounts, plans and past creations carry over, according to AlphaSignal.
That is a sharp turn from the Pika most creators know. Pika's own help centre still describes a video generator built on in-house models and effects such as Pikaffects and Pikaswaps. Pika had already moved beyond picture in August: its blog introduced Pika Soundtrack, Pika Music and Pika SFX on August 18, 2026.
Now, one caveat on price. Pika says some features will cost half what competitors charge, naming Seedance, Semafor reported. SLOP TV has not checked that against rival rate cards. Pika's pricing page, as of September 19, lists a 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip at 122 credits and top-ups at 60 credits per $1, which works out to about $2.03 a clip (122 / 60). The $10 Starter plan's 900 monthly credits cover seven such clips.
"We want to make sure that the element of creative control and stewardship still remains," Lindsay Brillson, Pika's head of brand and content, told Semafor.
Pika is the smaller player here. Semafor puts Pika's valuation at $470 million against $5.4 billion for Higgsfield, and notes that Higgsfield and Runway already run integrated creator platforms.
If the routing picks well, Pika could save creators from tracking which model is best this month. If it does not, the manual option AlphaSignal describes will matter more than the apps.
The new Pika apps are live at pika.art. Every plan includes all models, per the pricing page; the Free plan carries no monthly credits, and a commercial licence starts at the $35-a-month Creator plan.
