Runway's Adobe Plugin Puts Gen-4.5, Veo 3.1 & Aleph 2.0 Inside Premiere Pro and After Effects

Runway now runs as a panel inside Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with generated clips landing directly on the timeline.

Runway announced the new Runway Plugins in a blog post on September 8, 2026. The plugin is a free download for macOS and Windows, and one installer covers both Adobe apps, according to Runway's plugin page. Generating anything from the panel requires a paid Runway plan.

Until now, Runway said, using its models mid-edit meant exporting a frame, uploading it in a browser tab, downloading the result and re-importing it. With Runway Plugins, editors prompt from inside Premiere Pro or After Effects, watch the generation resolve in a feed and click to place it. In Premiere Pro, results land at the playhead.

Runway Plugins also works on footage already in the edit. An editor selects a clip and restyles its anchor frames in Edit Studio, and Aleph 2.0 re-renders the full clip at the source's duration. HDR conversion with Runway Ruby, background removal and upscaling apply to any selected clip.

The plugin page lists four video models: Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 Pro and Veo 3.1. Stills come from Gen-4 Image, Nano Banana and GPT Image 2. Duration, aspect ratio and resolution options follow each model, and clips already generated on Runway's web app can be placed from the panel.

Aleph 2.0 is Runway's video editing model, launched on May 21, 2026 alongside Edit Studio. Aleph 2.0 edits clips of up to 30 seconds at 1080p and takes an edited frame as the guide for the change. At launch, Runway offered Edit Studio on paid plans in its desktop web app.

The plugin carries no separate fee. Per Runway's pricing page as of September 19, the Standard plan costs $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually, with 625 credits. Gen-4.5 is listed at 60 credits per 5 seconds and Aleph 2.0 at 140 credits per 5 seconds. That makes Standard's monthly credits worth 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 by Runway's own figure, or four 5-second Aleph 2.0 re-renders (625 / 140 = 4.46). Runway lists no different rates for the plugin.

Runway is not the only route into the timeline. On the same day, Adobe announced a Generative Media Tool for Premiere that offers Adobe Firefly alongside partner models including Google Veo, Kling, Runway and Luma. Adobe's post does not say which Runway model is included, and it does not mention Aleph 2.0.

For editors already paying for Runway, the plugin could remove the browser round trip without a second subscription. If Aleph 2.0 re-rendering stays exclusive to Runway's own panel, that may decide between the two routes.

Runway Plugins is a free download for macOS and Windows at runway.com/plugins; generating requires any paid Runway plan. After installing, open Window → Extensions → Runway in Premiere Pro or After Effects and sign in.
