VN.AI launches VN Studio to log authorship and clear IP
The platform keeps a ledger of every AI and human action and scans output for copyright conflicts while the work is made.

Key takeaways
- VN.AI announced VN Studio on October 16, 2026, an AI production platform that combines filmmaking tools, authorship documentation and built-in copyright review in one workspace.
- The platform maintains a detailed ledger of every AI-automated action and every human-made action, and flags potential IP conflicts, keeping licenses and ownership declarations tied to the relevant material.
- VN.AI CEO Nelson Chu said creators need tools that document the human contribution and rights behind AI work to make it copyrightable.
- A desktop app tracks work done in Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, GIMP, Godot, Unity and Unreal Engine and folds it back into the provenance record.
VN.AI launched VN Studio on October 16, 2026, an AI production platform built around what the company calls creative control, human authorship and responsible use of intellectual property. The pitch is that rights review and authorship documentation become part of the workflow rather than a cleanup job after a project wraps.
The platform combines filmmaking tools, an AI Producer, authorship documentation and built-in copyright review in one workspace. Creators can develop characters, wardrobe and environments, compose scenes and shots, generate and compare video takes, move through post-production, and prepare a final scanned export. Built-in copyright scanning flags potential IP conflicts and keeps licenses, ownership declarations and supporting evidence connected to the material they cover, while the platform keeps a detailed ledger of every AI-automated action and every human-made action.
The provenance angle reaches outside the app. Files generated in external tools can be brought into the workflow, and VN.AI says its desktop app can track work done across approved post-production applications and pull that activity back into the provenance record. The company names Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, GIMP, Godot, Unity and Unreal Engine among the supported tools.
"If AI is going to be part of professional creative workflows, creators need tools that help them make the work while also documenting the human contribution and rights behind it to make the work copyrightable," VN.AI CEO Nelson Chu said in the announcement. VN.AI's creative engineer Nikki Kaelar, whose credits span Emmy and Grammy-winning work, is credited with the initial idea for the platform.
The launch lands in a live argument over what part of an AI-assisted film is protectable. VN.AI is already a name on this beat: the company published a copyright audit on October 14 that ranked Midjourney v8.1 worst of 15 models for reproducing protected material, and its researchers have stress-tested ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 safeguards, reported by Deadline. VN Studio is the company turning that testing posture into a production product.
VN Studio is positioned for filmmakers, agencies, brands and rights holders producing original films, shorts, advertisements and branded content; VN.AI is owned by ARCOS Labs.
