A Woman Asleep (Uyuyan Kadın), a feature produced entirely with AI tools, had its Turkey debut at the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival on October 26, 2026.

The film screened in the Perge Hall at the Ataturk Cultural Center, the venue and date listed on the festival's own program page. Turkiye Today and an Anadolu Agency report carried by Haberler covered the premiere. Filmmaker Gizem Avcioglu, who works under the name Vikki Bardot, took questions from the audience afterward.

Avcioglu said she worked on the screenplay and the edit with her husband and drew on her own life for the film's autobiographical elements, according to Turkiye Today. She confirmed the production had been created entirely through artificial intelligence tools.

The festival program describes A Woman Asleep as following a shifting group of women and using synthetic imagery and a clone of the director's voice to reflect a society that keeps looking yet no longer sees. It names French writer Georges Perec's 1967 novel A Man Asleep as the film's inspiration.

The same page lists the film at 79 minutes, made in Turkey in 2026, in Turkish with English subtitles, and names Spongeworthy Studio as the production company. Antalya programs the film in its Galalar, or Galas, section, Birgün and Episode report.

Antalya is one stop in a longer run. Turkiye Today reported in October that A Woman Asleep was selected for the main competition of the 36th FilmFestival Cottbus in Germany and called it the first AI-generated feature to enter the main competition of an established international festival. That report said the film was edited from around 50,000 individual shots, took two years to complete, and narrates through an AI-generated clone of Bardot's own voice.

Bardot has worked in this format before. Episode, a Turkish series magazine, reported that her earlier AI-made short Dreamt by Another was chosen for more than 40 international festivals and nominated for best short film at the 58th SİYAD Awards.

Birgün, a Turkish newspaper, reported that A Woman Asleep is set for a Turkish theatrical release in 2027 through the distributor Başka Sinema, after its Cottbus competition run.

The Antalya slot puts a fully synthetic feature in a gala program rather than an AI-only strand. Whether the door widens for other AI-made features depends on how programmers treat the next ones submitted.

A Woman Asleep screens again at Cinema Pink 1 in TerraCity AVM on October 27 at 16.30 and October 30 at 12.30, both listed on the festival's program page.
