Key takeaways

  • Runway listed App Studio in its changelog on October 23, 2026: describe the creative app you need in plain language, and App Studio builds it with Runway's models, your brand and your files, then hosts it for you.
  • App Studio is included in every paid Runway plan with no add-on, and building, running and hosting an app draw on the account's existing credit balance.
  • Runway's changelog dates its Adobe panel for Premiere Pro and After Effects to September 8, 2026, and its ProRes 4444 and PNG-sequence export to August 10, 2026.

Runway listed App Studio in its changelog on October 23, 2026. The entry describes the feature this way: describe the creative app you need in plain language, and App Studio builds it with Runway's models, your brand and your files, then hosts it for you.

Runway's own announcement, dated October 26, goes further. App Studio writes, tests and deploys each app. Creators keep refining it in plain language, preview each change before publishing, and roll back to an earlier version when something breaks. The code stays visible for anyone who wants to inspect it, and publishing needs no API keys, hosting setup or separate infrastructure.

Apps run on Runway's image, video and audio models, along with a workspace's Brand Kits, Workflows, Assets and References. Runway shipped App Studio with built-in apps from its own teams, among them Character Swap, AutoComp, Product Portfolio, 3D Camera Control, Precise Edit and Runway Pro. Any of them can be used as-is or remixed into a custom version.

App Studio is included in every paid plan, with no separate purchase or add-on. Building, running and hosting an app all draw on the account's existing Runway credit balance, and each app reports its own usage. Runway says visitors to a publicly shared app pay for their own generations. An independent write-up by Bottle Rocket Content reports that paid plans start at $15 per month for Standard.

Architecture firm KPF built one of the early apps, animating its design renderings. "KPF has always pushed what's possible in design, and AI is part of that," KPF Associate Principal Andy Christoforou said in Runway's announcement. He said App Studio lets the firm build tools around the way its teams work, so every designer in the studio can use them, not just a few specialists.

Two earlier changelog entries cover the editing side. A September 8, 2026 entry, Runway Adobe Plugins, states that "Runway is now available directly inside Premiere Pro and After Effects." A second entry the same day says Runway "runs in a panel inside Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects," generating images and video with the full model lineup, restyling footage already on the timeline with Aleph 2, and placing each result directly into the comp or sequence.

An August 10, 2026 entry, ProRes / PNG Sequence Export, says Tool Mode and Edit Studio "let you export Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2 generations as ProRes 4444 with PCM audio or a PNG sequence, instead of a compressed MP4," so output can land straight on a Resolve or Premiere timeline.

App Studio is live on every paid Runway plan; the entry point is app.runwayml.com/app-studio.
