Key takeaways

  • Final Cut Pro for Mac now includes MotionVFX built in, giving editors thousands of elements, among them templates, titles, transitions, and tools for rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading.
  • Editors can open any image from a Final Cut Pro timeline in Pixelmator Pro, edit it, and save the change back to the project without reimporting the file.
  • Logic Pro for Mac gains an intelligent assistant in beta and a redesigned Browser with a Splice library, while Logic Pro gets an enhanced Stem Splitter that now separates drums and a Liquid Glass redesign.
  • Apple Creator Studio's updates arrive on the App Store this November as a free update for existing subscribers.

Apple's October 27 update to Apple Creator Studio puts MotionVFX built directly into Final Cut Pro for Mac.

Apple announced the changes in an Apple Newsroom press release. Final Cut Pro for Mac now includes MotionVFX, which Apple describes as an expansive collection of visual effects, plug-ins, transitions, templates, and motion graphics tools. Editors get thousands of elements, among them themed templates, graphics, titles, and transitions, plus tools for rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading.

The second workflow change is a closer link to Pixelmator Pro. Editors can open any image from a timeline in Pixelmator Pro, work on it with the app's advanced editing tools, and save the change back to the project without reimporting the file. When the June 30, 2026 Creator Studio update introduced the pairing, a Final Cut Pro editor could only send out a single frame. Now the two apps stay in step in both directions.

Final Cut Pro also adds image generation from text descriptions inside a project, 23 new transcription languages, more keyframe easing options, and the ability to disconnect clips from the primary storyline. Apple's curated Content Hub now includes video assets and is available inside Final Cut Pro.

Apple Creator Studio is Apple's subscription collection of creative apps across Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and its members include Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, and Compressor.

Elsewhere, Logic Pro for Mac gains an intelligent assistant in beta and a redesigned Browser that centralizes sounds and adds a Splice library, alongside an enhanced Stem Splitter that now separates drums and a Liquid Glass redesign across Mac and iPad. Pixelmator Pro introduces Generate Fill, which matches the lighting, perspective, and texture of the surrounding image, with built-in Super Resolution to keep generated content sharp at any size. Keynote, Pages, and Numbers add AI assistants in beta, Model Context Protocol support for workflow automation, stock video in the Content Hub, and premium themes and templates.

"This is our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio. MotionVFX content in Final Cut Pro gives subscribers rapid access to extensive professional video effects and content, bringing incredible value to the suite," said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple's senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud. He added: "The assistant capabilities in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are going to change the game for how people interact with and learn to use these apps."

Compressor also adds encoding for Cinematic mode video recorded on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. For editors already on the suite, the practical change is a professional effects library and an image editor they reach from the timeline instead of switching apps.

Apple Creator Studio's updates will be available on the App Store this November as a free update for existing subscribers.
