Key takeaways

  • Runway dated Runway Ads as available on every paid plan in its changelog on October 27, 2026, after announcing the product on September 30.
  • Runway Ads connects to Meta, Google and TikTok ad accounts, reads the customer's best performers and generates on-brand video and image variants sized for each placement.
  • Runway's setup documentation says connecting an ad account is read-only, stating that Runway "does not change anything in your ad accounts."
  • Runway Ads runs on plan credits rather than a separate fee; Standard is $12 a month billed annually, or $15 monthly, with 625 credits a month.

Runway Ads is included with every paid Runway plan, after Runway's changelog dated the change October 27, 2026 and a company post the same day opened the tool to every paid plan. Runway had announced the product on September 30.

Runway Ads connects to a customer's Meta, Google and TikTok ad accounts, reads the ads already earning spend, then generates on-brand video and image variants sized for each placement. The product page frames it as a four-step loop: generate, approve, publish, learn. Localization covers on-screen text and product screenshots as well as the voiceover, and every ad waits for a human approval.

The limits are worth reading plainly. Runway's setup documentation says connecting an account is read-only: "Runway reads your campaign data and creative; it does not change anything in your ad accounts." The product page still claims Ads "automates the heavy lifting of ad generation and buying," so the buying language and the read-only documentation do not quite agree.

Publishing is murkier. The announcement says approved ads publish directly to connected accounts. A help article on the review and publish flow still says publishing from Runway Ads "is coming soon" and tells teams to download approved creative and upload it themselves. Check which one your workspace shows.

Runway Ads runs on the same agent as Runway Creative. The Agent documentation says that agent picks a model per task automatically from a set that includes Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.0, Kling and Veo. Runway publishes no model list specific to Ads.

Runway says it built the system on its own performance marketing, particularly on Meta and TikTok, and that since July 2026 its weekly ad volume went from 77 to about 900 while cost per subscriber fell 41%. Included means Ads spends plan credits: Standard is $12 a month billed annually, or $15 monthly, with 625 credits. Runway's pricing page bills those 625 credits as 52 seconds of Gen-4.5.

The incumbent comparison sits inside Google's own account. Google Ads Asset Studio generates a batch of 15 images, 9 headlines, 9 descriptions and 3 video concepts from one prompt, and Google says there is "no cost to add additional assets to your campaign" beyond the usual click charges. Its prompt feature supports Global English only. Runway Ads writes for multiple markets and charges a subscription.

For a small team already paying for Runway, the offer folds variant testing, localization and sizing into a bill it already carries. The approval gate stays, and so does the question of whether the publish step matches the announcement.
